3 Tips for Decluttering Your Home Image

Decluttering your home can seem like an unachievable task. The more you’ve pushed it off, and the more junk that has accumulated, the harder it will seem. Here are three tips for decluttering your home.

Set Realistic Goals

The first step is to sit down and set some goals for yourself. Make sure that these goals are realistic, or else you’ll never get around to finishing the job. Break them down into smaller goals and tasks.

You might want to set a schedule that runs for a certain period of time. For example, each week you can aim to finish one or two rooms.

It’s also a good idea to set priorities. Some rooms will need to be decluttered more than others, so aim to finish those first.

Set Up a System That Works

Make sure the entire decluttering process is done in a systematic manner. If you have people to help you, you can assign different rooms to different people.

When decluttering your home, there will be different items that you’ll come across. Some you’ll want to keep, some you’ll want to throw out, and others can be sold or given to charity.

One way to organize is by using separate marked boxes or garbage bags for each category. Put whatever you want to throw out in one box, bag or area, whatever you want to sell in another, etc.

Store Items in Self-Storage

To avoid getting your home cluttered again, store whatever you want to keep but don’t need to use in a special self-storage facility.
